Retail Banking Manager

Education:  Bachelor’s degree (four-year college or university program) or equivalent combination of education and experience

Experience Desired:  Minimum of 2 years of banking experience in management or a closely related field.

Pay Range: Dependent on Experience

Immediate Supervisor:  President of Community Banking

Employment Status:  Full time - Exempt

Shift Hours:  Monday - Friday \ 8:00am - 5:00pm

Location: Mt Iron, MN

Position Summary

The Retail Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations, growth, and profitability of both branch locations. This role ensures that all branch activities align with company goals, policies, and regulatory requirements while maintaining a strong focus on customer service and team development. The Retail Manager drives branch performance through effective leadership, operational excellence, and community engagement.

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee, lead, and direct retail operations to ensure compliance with all policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

  • Drive department efficiency and profitability by implementing corporate strategies, marketing initiatives, and sales plans.

  • Establish, maintain, and manage an effective sales environment that promotes the Bank’s products and services.

  • Develop and retain a strong customer base through proactive relationship management, business development, and community involvement.

  • Manage, coach, and develop retail employees to achieve performance goals and deliver exceptional customer experiences.

  • Communicate business goals, expectations, and performance metrics clearly to staff, fostering accountability and teamwork.

  • Maintain an in-depth knowledge of all retail banking products, services, and systems.

  • Oversee branch cash operations, ensuring proper controls, audit compliance, and adherence to security procedures.

  • Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and execute strategies that meet branch and organizational objectives.

  • Monitor and evaluate team performance metrics, identifying opportunities for improvement and growth.

  • Promote a culture of professionalism, integrity, and customer focus throughout all branch activities.

Required Knowledge

  • Must have some knowledge of banking regulations and become familiar with internal policies and procedures.

  • Knowlege of Fiserv Premier Core and various other payment platforms such as UBB and Fedline Advantage a strong plus

  • Basic computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel is a must.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare reports and present information effectively.

  • Demonstrated ability to build strong customer relationships and maintain a high level of service excellence.

  • Proficiency in interpreting and applying organizational policies, procedures, and business strategies.

Work Environment

  1. Normal office environment where there is almost no discomfort due to temperature, dust, noise or other disagreeable elements.

  2. Exposed to a potentially hazardous condition—robbery. Receives detailed instructions to be followed to minimize the risk.
